So I live right outside of Chicago, and I would like to go on a cruise. Lake Michigan doesn't have any cruise liners sailing around, so I guess I would need to fly somewhere with more water to find one. I think the best way to do this would be to fly down to florida(tickets are pretty cheap to fly down there), and then go on a 3-day cruise with my girlfriend to see how they are. If we like it, then in the future we might go for a longer one. If we don't like it, and we are see sick, it's only for 3 days. So anyways, is there a Cruise FAQ anywhere? I've seen advertised cruise specials in Florida for under $200. I've heard that they are that cheap in hurrican season, so it's kinda a risk to book one then. I think we are pretty much open to give one a try anytime this year. What kinda of deals have you guys gotten on these things?

Goto Carnival Cruise and check it out. I know you could fly into Orlando and take the Fantasy out of Port Canaveral which is about 40 minutes from here. I've been on it a couple of times and its a great vacation. Think about...all your meals and lodging are taken care...you can do as much or as little as you want...you get to visit places you've never been to before...
I love cruises and think they are the best vacation value out there.

If you really want luxury check out Royal Caribbean, what an awesome cruise that was.

Carnival is nice and cheap, attracts's a lot of younger people. Pretty much a big party boat =) Good Times!

ive been on 7 cruises, from small ships to gigantic ships, i think they are the best vacation ever. If you just want to decompress and unwind they are perfect the days out at sea all you do is eat, sleep, eat, read, eat, party, gamble, eat, eat some more, sleep and repeat.

ive been to bermuda a couple of times its really nice, i suggest princess or norwiegen, carnival is nice but for around the same money i think princess ships are nicer and have much better service.

I've been on a Royal Caribbean cruise. The cool things about cruises is that every morning that you wake up your in a different port.
My schedule was something like this
8am breakfast then go back to my room and get ready to go out.
9am leave the boat and tour the city your at.
12pm either come back to the boat for lunch or just eat while your touring
3-4pm back on the boat
5pm dink around on the deck (swimming or something) (usually the boat leaves about this time heading to the next port)
7pm dinner
8pm comedy show on the boat or something
9pm gamble in the casino
10pm Karaoke
11pm Bar
12pm midnite buffet
1 am sleep
sometime in the night or the morning the boat arrives at the next port
then do it all again the next day

I got really lucky two summers ago and got to work on a cruise. My friend's dad works for Cunard, so we got to go on the QE 2. It went from Florida to New York to all over Europe. It was free of charge because I had to work on the ship vacuuming and cleaning. It was great because I got alota free time to enjoy myself but once we hit ports they expected the workers to stay with the ship so it was sorta restrictive. I'm sure the QE 2 is ridiculously expensive if you want to go for a long cruise though.

3 or 4 day cruises will run you anywhere between $250-$500 depending on your cabin location and date of sailing. Of course the price could be higher if you really want a luxury suite.
