Here's my system specs. I'm using the Logitech Z-5300s.
I have the speakers set to 5.1 using NVMixer and Windows' audio properties.
5.1 directional sound works flawlessly when viewing a DVD, but doesn't work properly during gameplay. I do get sound through all 5 channels, but the sound is not directional. For instance, if I throw a grenade in HL2 and turn around, I should only hear the explosion through the rears (like on my brother's system). Instead, I hear the explosion through all channels. Again, if there is an enemy character firing at me from the left, I hear it through all channels.
I have the game's audio set to 5.1 as well.
What gives?
