I'd go with #2 (especially if you can get 512 ram for it). Why? Because its what i have, and i'm loving it

Definitely #2

As for Half-life it would easily run it at the highest res it allows (1280x960) with all effects on at a solid 100fps (the highest half life allows).

I'll be getting your #1 selection, cause I want to overclock my proc. Your taking your chances when you O'clock an AMD processors. If you don't believ me loook at the Tom's hardware website. They O'clocked the 1.7 P4, the 1.0 P3 coppermine, the 1.4 AMD thunderbird and the newer 1.6+ Palamino (AMD). And the results:

1.7 P4 - maintained stability and no heat issues. Also no reboots and nothing was damaged.
1.0 P3 - They had to reboot the system as it hung but that was it. No damaged components
1.4 AMD - Processor was destroyed and if not quickly eliminated the mobo could have been destroyed.
1.6+ Palamino (AMD) - Processor was destroyed and the mobo could have been destroyed also.

So just watch yourself and make sure you know what your doing if you decide to O'clock.

But....

I would go with the #2 selection. Especially with that G3 TI200. I have that card (visiontek) and it's awesome.
-bought card from Mwave for $170.00 :)

In addition, your getting all the features of a G3 but it will run a little slower and it's at a low price.

good luck :D

OC'ing would be a waste with the #1 choice. The #1 system only has an MX card, which is a large bottle-neck for gaming. There is no way that #1 could touch the performance of #2. Go #2! :)

You obviously didn't read that article at all. They didn't OC the processors one bit, they just took the heatsink/fan off the processor to see what would happen. Unless you are a moron, you wouldn't take the hs/f off your processor, so I understand why YOU wouldn't get one, but hopefully acidvoodoo knows better.

I'd say #2, clearly the best system in mind for gaming.

just another vote for #2.

If these three systems are close in price, then #2 would definately be the best deal.

#2 is my vote, one possibly you get more RAM out of it compared to #1, GeForce 3 Ti200 is a better card than #1 and #3.

Also,
GeForce comparison this is using a 2 GHz P4 for the test.
CPU comparison this is all the CPU's plus some from your list.

Look at both of them and you'll be able to get a good conclusion of what your setup would be like in performace for games.

2 is a given. OC ing isnt that hard... just bump up FSB and use a good HSF and you fly. (ALPHA's 8045 absolutely rocks) Soyo's dragon+ is a good choice.

<< nah i won't be overclocking, i don't trust my self enough >>

Overclocking the CPU isn't perfectly useful...overclocking the graphics card is.
