Upgrading my computer will come to a halt. My computer while quite slow does everything I need it for, and since I dont play games anymore or use my computer for much more than chatting here, on icq, store my phone numbers in an excel spreadsheet and listen to mp3's, I will not be upgrading this system anymore.

I've realized that I will get no benifit from making any new upgrades.

celeron 300a to p3 1ghz... wow, my computer will boot in 25 seconds as opposed to 35.

160mb cas3 pc-100 to 256mb cas2 pc-133... I dont even use my 160mb.

ati xpert@play 98 to geforce2... hmmm... money for me or 100 fps in quake3? I dont even play games...

5400 rpm, 13 gb hard drive to 7200 rpm, 45gb drive... so my spreadsheet loads 2 seconds faster...

upgrading for me is a complete waste of money...

Jokes man....if you want fast boot times go with WinME, and get a celery 366 @ 550 combo.
That'll be a nice boost in speed, your rams fine and your HD should be okay.

Stefan, I know how you feel... I spent an ungodly amount in 2000 on my desktop... It's so easy to get drawn into the upgrade vortex...

Basically, I resolved that I won't upgrade unless I can double my performance... so I won't upgrade my 700MHz Athlon Classic until I can get a 1.4GHz AMD chip for a reasonable amount. Same with my 8x CD Burner... I'll actually probably wait for 20 speed. I mean, waiting 8-10 minutes to burn a CD is not a problem.
