I used to enjoy video games. I always finished all the levels, the missions, the complete game. Most of the games were PC games, but I got an XBOX360 too with GTAIV.

Lately I've been losing the interest in video games. I started noticing this when I stopped playing GTAIV. I never finished a couple of other games. Now, I've never been a true gamer with no social life, but I used to enjoy games way more...

Now I spend more time watching movies, and reading books.... what does ATOT think? Is it time to start telling kids to get off my lawn?

Depends on the types of movies you are watching.

desire to play video games is something that comes and goes for me. i might not play anything for 6 months, then i'll get into a game for a week or two. it's got nothing to do with age IMO.

It could be time!

If there were better story driven games then you wouldn't have to read so many books

One weekend I got to bring home a nice machine with great graphics etc.

I installed my entire steam account and was salivating at the prospect of playing a game for the first time in over a year and other games that I had never had a chance to play (hl2e2). I ended up firing up Portal (always loved that game) beat it in a few hours, and trying out the other games for at msot five minutes.

I found myself deleting them soon after (the next day) and installing visual studio.

/facepalm

All my hobbies are like this (sadly including playing with my kids) sometimes you love em, and other times you just need a break. I went through a stretch last year where I spent two hours every night studying chess, my rating went up, I played well and was happy. Around February this year I burnt out. I barely play, don't study and my concentration is lacking when I do play now, but I still go to club because I have good friends there and I know that in a month or two it will be an obsession again. Currently my obsession is free MMORPGs (currently Runes of Magic).

The last game I played all the way through was Mass Effect.

Since then I've started maybe five more games and quit 10-40% of the way through. They just don't hold my interest anymore. :(

Only 2-3 at the most interest me in a year now. I'm a big fan of Total War, Command and Conquer, and Resident Evil. Fall Out 3 also kept me busy for awhile. I find it near impossible to keep myself playing them all week long because of how much time I waste on them. I'm 25 going on 26, and there's just too many things to do in life at my age to be sitting home and playing games for 8 hrs straight.

I was like this for a while, but I have started to finish games again. I was able to finish Witcher, Mass Effect, and I even went back and finished Oblivion.

GTA IV is on hold till finals are over.

Same boat here.

But I blame it on the game developers and publishers. There are maybe two or three games a year that interest me.

I used to be super into video game but now I just feel so much regret whenever I play. It sucks away so much time and I feel like I could have done much better things with my time than sit there frittering away with games. I don't get much satisfaction from them. I'd rather be out gardening, reading or socializing with friends. Even listening to music and sipping a glass of wine and looking out the window feels more purposeful than being sucked into a game. I wasted a good year of my life playing CS:S for hours every day. I wish I could get that time back. I learned my lesson.

I have also lost interest in video games. But mainly because every new game is a copy of another. I am more into MMORPGs now where you can have a different experience everytime you play.

But real life, work, wife, yardwork are creeping up one me.

I have also found a new hobby. I love shooting guns. I dropped this years gaming machine allowance on an AR 15 + optics. So I have made a decision to let me gaming experience languish due to my new hobby for this year.

I play mostly adventure games now along with TF2. If a new Battlefield game comes along, I'll likely play that. Haven't seen a good MMO or a non repetitive rpg in a while.

Same here, I used to waste months on end playing games and then woke up one day and decided it was time to take a break. Now that I?m older I find myself playing games less and less, only a few games catch my interest enough for me to sit and play them for an hour but even then I?ll way away feeling I could have used that time better.

Now I spend time taking photos, working on my car, tinkering with my paintball guns and other things that are way more fulfilling than video games. At the end of the day, no one really gives a hoot if you got three head shots in a row.

i've lost interested in video games because there aren't any good new video games out there. i still play warcraft 3 a decent amount for goodness sake, its like a 8 year old game, and i hop into quake live for a round of deathmatch or two once in a while. they satisfy my gaming needs without sucking me in for countless hours when i could be doing other things in real life

I used to be into FPS and some RPGs (mainly Final Fantasy series). I couldn't get through FF12 and lost interest in FPS games probably after UT and Q2 died (years ago). Now the only game I play is WoW with the girlfriend and only a few days a week. I do enjoy movies anime and reading much more than I used to. :)

Video games were only created 5 minutes ago, how have you become tired of them already?

Are you tired of them, or are you TIRED of them?

Have you ever wondered if it is you playing the video games, or is it the video games playing YOU?!?!?!?!

At first I thought I was outgrowing video games, but after getting into TF2 and a few others I've come to realize that the video games themselves are more to blame. They're just not getting any different or better than what I've played in the past, with the exception of graphics of course. Valve seems to be the only company that makes games that really catch my interest these days. I can't wait for HL2 EP3.

I go in spurts. I'm sadly playing Warcraft again... mostly since I have a couple hours a day now where I can play, and it is a great way to kill that time. Otherwise, I'll often go back to older games I used to really get into. Typically older RPGs and the like. Newer games that catch my interest are far and few between. I have been waiting for Fable II to come down in price, since I would like to pick that up.
