I've had it with troubleshooting PCs

Troubleshooting blows. I don't know how people have the time and patience to do it. All of a sudden, my printer decides to throw a communication error. It's friggin USB - it can't get any simpler. I've done nothing to change settings anywhere and the cables are in. I try to reinstall drivers and it still doesn't work. Why does this sort of $#!T happen ?

I'm trying to connect an Intel MP3 player via USB and it decides not to detect with XP, but the mp3 manager software works. So I throw it on a WIN2k machine and it detects it fine... but the software now doesn't load. Somebody shoot me.

This stuff combined with everyone else tapping me on the shoulder to fix their PC... I can't stand it anymore. My bro's old POS K6-2/350MHz doesn't even want to POST anymore and I have no clue why. My uncle calls me every 2 months to help him reinstall WIN2k... I see his name on my callerID and I don't even want to pick up anymore.

I'm A+ certified since '99 but you know what ? Troubleshooting blows. I don't have the time or patience for anymore Mickey Mouse bullsh!t.

USB issues suck, but a quick fix that for some odd reason seems to work? Change ports. Dunno why. All the ports can work fine but for some reason Windoze can't see one of 'em every so often.

I enjoy troubleshooting computers. It is sort of a hobby of mine. It's something that I'm good at and it's easy, so I like to do it. But I am well aware that not everyone likes to do it :)

And oh yeah... I was trying to install a USB2.0 PCI card adapter to the machine upstairs... it doesn't even recognize something was installed upon WIN2k bootup.

Why can't $#!T just work... I can't even plug and pray anymore.

I got so sick of troubleshooting and fiddling with the PC, I bought a prebuilt system that had an intel motherboard. Its not sspeed demon but I have yet to have to troubleshoot anything in over a year.

I actually always thought i would hate to do tech support for a living, but that's what i've been doing lately, and i actually like it. It feels good when somebody comes into the shop with a broken or malfunctioning system, and you're able to repair it for them.

Of course once in awhile you get somebody screaming at you, but 9/10 of the time, they're calm and grateful that you're able to save their ass.

Seriously, I hate PCs.
By that logic, do you hate women too?

At least you give troubleshooting a try. 9 out of 10 of the lugnuts around here resort to reformatting. Pretty clever, eh? Sure learn a lot that way.

Take a deep breath and have at it only when you're in the mood. Accomplish the task at hand on another machine, and have another go at that one when you have a clear head, and feel like spending the time to really track down the problem.

Good luck!
