ive had a wc setup sitting since about february of this year, water need changing?

I have a wc cool system sitting without any pc componets and thinking of getting it back online, although I'm lazy and don't want to change the water unless absolutley required, its been sitting for a little while but the water still looks okay, what do you think?

Would depend, if it's just pure tap water or with coolant additives...
Pure tap water I would change...special dedicated coolant fluid not...

Its my understanding that you should never ever use pure tap water....

perhaps he meant pure water (aka distilled water).
There's nothing pure about tap water 🙂

Lol, right more the distilled stuff...with "tap" water there would be no water flow anymore after a while through all the green tubing and the corroded block... 😛

you should be fine anywhere from 6 months to a year

if you have aluminum in your loop then I would change the fluid more often to prevent galvanic corrosion

You should.

Changing the water takes only about half an hour, it's not that bad. And once you take a good look at the water, you'll know it gets pretty gross. The water will appear "glittery" to you.

And if you mix metals (aluminum + copper, for example) you'll definately want to.

Hehe.. sorry to go off topic, but when I saw "WC" in the title I immediately thought "Water Closet"... Makes the title funny if you read it that way 🙂
