I've got too many heatsinks, what should I do?

I just ordered 2 Thermalright SK7s with fans, thermal compound, and some thumbscrews. These will replace my mom+pop and retail HSFs on my processors. I also have an old Alpha 8054 on my desk.

It seems like such a waste to toss them, and no one would want to buy them. What are some creative things to do with them?

I could put my 8054 on the Radeon....

:D

Interesting. I was just checking out the SK800 over at SVC. I have an AX-7. One of the best out there.

From the reviews I 've read, the SK800 out performs the AX-7 with the same fan! BUT, I'm not crazy about the SK-family's very narrow base that doesn't sit on the CPU pads properly, so you have put additional pads on the HS itself.

See middle pic on this page.

*shrug*

Good luck with your excess heatsinks. :)

You could send me one for use when I get an Athlon.

Currently still chugging away on my K6-3/400 with RivaTNT1 that I built in '00.

Wouldn't happen to have any spare hardware? :p

Get some thermal epoxy and glue them to yourself when it gets hot out.

It's early, I'm not awake yet, so that is funny. :)

Stick them to the top of your car's engine
Drain the coolant
Run it for 30 min.

Ouch. :(

I've always wanted to mount a big CPU HSF onto my videocard. That little 40mm fan on there spins at about 25,000 rpm or so and is the loudest thing in my system. :|

ONe big HS and no fan...I wonder if it would work? How the hell do you get it to stay on there w/o bending/cracking the card, though? I guess that's why Thermal Engineers make big bucks and I don't, huh? ;)

Mobo and vga chipset heatsinks.
They are great for passive mobo nb and sb cooling.

I have a 52 HP 1.1L engine. Nothing would happen. I don't even run it with a fan.

Ford Festiva.

Seriously though, I'm sure it would overheat eventually. In winter, it would probably take quite a while.
