I've got this annoying problem with a Dell XPS M1330 + Windows Vista UE

When I close the lid, the computer goes to sleep. The computer is at resolution 1280x800. When I open the lid, the computer starts up and the resolution is 1024x768. If I go to Start > Sleep, and then close the lid, then it doesn't happen.

Interesting...

I'm running Vista HP on a Toshiba A215 and... while I haven't had a screen res problem, I have noticed that Start -> Sleep seems to work better than simply closing the lid - especially if I've just booted up, and it's still loading programs in the background...

I don't know WHY this is, but I'm glad to read that someone else is experiencing the same phenomena!

Kinda rules out being a Dell or Toshiba problem, yes? 🙂

Are you running the latest video card drivers?

Haven't run into any quality issues yet. *knock on wood*

Thanks for the reply. Its "good" to hear this problem isn't restricted to just Dell laptops.

I'm using an Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset graphics card ICYI.
