I can prime all day fine with 220 fsb @ 1:1 on my IC7/2.4C combo. Once I push the FSB upto 258+ @ 5:4 (ddr 204 i think) I have to reset the cmos. Im only at like 3076mhz.

3.0 out of a 2.4C isn't a dud, just not a super OC>

I'm getting 3.15 out of my 2.4 right now.

Did you try upping the Vcore? 1.6-1.625 should be fine (IC7 undervolts a bit) Also try disabling "Performance Mode" in the BIOS.

Try lowering your memory ratio to 3:2 as well, and relax your memory timings to like 2.5-4-4-8 to see if it's your memory holding you back first. Then try upping your vcore - cpu voltage.

Good luck.

You aren't alone man. 2.4c and IC7-G here.
1:1 220 FSB works fine, 250 FSB with 5:4 crashes, but 3:2 is fine.

Nifty eh? What memory are you using?

I'm suprised by how much the IC7 undervolts especially when under load. I had it at 1.575 and it'd drop down to 1.52 occassionally (powering my system with an Enermax 430W). I have it at 1.600 now and it's crunching Prime95 24/7, stable at 259FSB. RAM isn't holding me back, I can go up to 230FSB@1:1 (TwinMOS Winbond CH-5).

2x512mb Twinmos/Winbond CH-5 chipped ram. It's not the ram, I can boot and bench @ 1:1 upto ~228-230mhz FSB @ 2.5/3/3/6. I can do like 240 @ 3/4/4/7. I guess i'll just have to buy a 2.6c or another 2.4.

But if I can boot 1:1 upto 230mhz and run benchmarks why then when the fsb is 260 and the ram is ~205 using 5:4 would the system crash?

I have recieved my new ram today. Guess what? :) Im in Windows @ 285FSB with 5:4 ratio. I couldn't even POST with 251fsb @ 5:4 on the Twinmos sticks.

If you look on the Abit forum, there are some others who are also having problems with CH5 sticks and the 5:4 ratio.

Wow! Very interesting. I looked at that thread. yea, it looks like the CH5 is an issue. What is the new ram you got that fixes it?
