I want to put three to six photos beside each other with a nice white frame between them making one picture out of them, but dumb as I am I can't for the world figure out how to put the pic's next to each other :(. I know I should keep them in different layers, but I just end up with the pic's on top of each other. Help a ps newbie please?

First create a new image with the desired dimension.

For example, if each of your single images is 300x200 (width x height) and you want to space them by 10 pixels, you create an image with the following dimensions:
width = 300*6 + 10*5 = 1850
height = 200

Then go to your first image, hit Ctrl-A (to select it), then Ctrl-C. Go to your new image, and hit Ctrl-V (Paste). It'll put the copied image in a new layer (you should see it in the layers panel.). You can then place your "sub-image" like you want using the arrow tool (upper-left corner of the tools tab). Repeat these steps for each of your images! when you want to move a certain image, just click on its corresponding layer and use the arrow tool.

Good luck!
