Help me build a new system with a budget of 900 (shipped). Let me know what you come up with. Thanks

I don't need a monitor, keyboard, mlouse etc..

1. Wait for Conroe / intel Core 2 Duo desktop chips and/or the AMD AM2 major price drop in response to intel
2. Read the 20 other system threads for pointers, then post once you have a better idea
3. Tell us what you plan to use the computer for

^What he said.

I will use it for some gaming, music making/listening, word processing, watching movies, and anything else I need for college. How much will a conroe mobo/proc combo cost?

Well according to the pompous emo kid on tv, you need a mac!

jk

I would seriously just put this entire thought of a new pc on hold for about 2 weeks until AMD's chips are discounted, and the Core 2 Duo's are out and in stock. Although I have heard of places shipping the core 2 duo already, you'd get a much better price if you wait until the official launch which is just around the corner. And it seems like most motherboards are waiting for conroe to launch as well.

Get a Conroe E6400 for around $240-250

Get this PSU:

Enermax 500W PSU for $110

Sapphire X1800XT 256MB for $260($230 after MIR).

Total: $915($855 after rebate) plus shipping.

An excellent machine for gaming and all that.

If you are on a budget you don`t need to spend $110 dollars to get a good PSU that will do the job!!

Fortron makes some nice best bang for your buck PSu`s in the $50 - $80 range!

Even though the Enermax is also nice. There are other brands at that price point that bear looking at!!

Looks awesome (most of that will be mine soon!), but I'd reccommend a hard drive (did I miss that he had one?) and an O\S.

I agree the PSU seems like an overkill.
