I've got $600 for Nvidia or ATI

So I want to upgrade my 8800gts. I have $600 sitting in my account for just that purpose. I don't want to deal with the 9600gx2 or sli because I want reliable performance across the board. The 9800gtx isn't nearly what I hoped it would be. I upgraded from a 7900gt to my current 8800gts and whichever company puts out a card with that type of performance jump in a single card configuration gets my money. I'm sure there are others out there like me that are just waiting to give their money to either company once they get their act together.

Getting another GTS is your best option at this point.

AMD should have something out soon, but it does not look as promising as I had hoped.

GT200 is still quite a ways off.

You either need to get over your SLI phobia or live with the current state of GPUs for some time to come. Hopefully AMD will prove me wrong.

... i don't see why you guys are pushing him to upgrade now. the 8800 gts is not a bad card (unless you want crysis with high settings at high res, but then everything that costs less than twice what he wants to spend sucks for that).

i'd want to get the most for the money i spent on that 8800 gts, and waiting until the next architecture cycle (generally when we see high perf gains at a specific price points) makes a lot of sense.
