I had breakfast at the work cafeteria this morning with my boss and a colleague visiting from across the pond. After breakfast, normal workday continues. Then bam, power outage. Completely unable to work, I am eating my actual breakfast (what I packed) now as second breakfast.

Discuss the important practical and philosophical of second breakfast.

Does at least one of the two breakfasts have taters in them?

Ive just realised that my grandmother in law was a hobbit!
So many meals in a day! Early breakfast, breakfast, elevenses, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper. Maybe a late night snack as well.
And everything came with lots of different types of potatoes! Having baked potatoes three times a day wasn't easy on top of the sheer amounts of food.
Eating it all did make her very happy though so it was worth the gastric distress.
Her and her husband were pretty skinny as well!

I too choose your wife's grandmother. Potatoes, cheeses, and noodles are my favorites. I'd be all "Grams, yes we've had baked potatoes, but what about twice baked potatoes?"

Honestly after a day or two it stopped being fun. They were awesome people though. Both lived to nearly 100.

I'd have smashed every meal and snack grams put in front of me with great gusto. I haven't had a proper home cooked meal I did not have to prepare myself since before the turn of the century. My wife is a country girl, but her side of the family can't cook for shit. :p The Pioneer Woman they are not.

Always make a big holiday meal before going to their get togethers so we don't go hungry and have to eat disappointment. The aunt that made Mary Ann Summers level coconut cream pie passed away so even dessert is a hard pass for me. They make this abomination here called redneck's delight. Narrator "Mark in fact, did not find it delightful." Not a fan of monkey bread either.

You'd have loved her apple pie then! People still talk about that now!

My favorite apple pie is savory crust and almost overfilled with fresh apples.

My favourite quote of hers was to my wife. My wife was saying how good Grans pastry was and Gran said the secret is to use good lard. My wife has been a vegetarian for about 20 years at that point and had been eating that pie for that long!
She still ate that pastry after finding out as well!
