Figured i'd post this...
I was loyal to eudora 3.0(Written for Windows 98/95) for many years, until i started having to use a username with a @ in it, and it couldnt support that. I've been on crappy web mail since. I've finally given up and signed up for gmail today. Linked the account to it and using send as, and will be using that for my domain email from now on...hopefully i'm happy with it!

Gmail is great for webmail. I hate how it doesn't let you sort mail though, and sure Search is a great feature, but not being able to sort is ridiculous.

That's why I still believe that IMAP or LDAP pwns. Using Outlook 2007 is the only way to go. Rules, sort, search, blah blah blah.... you can't beat Outlook.

My professor uses Yahoo mail, so maybe he'll switch and take your title from you.

OP - which mail service are you using? @ in the login field can commonly be replaced by a few characters, first that comes to mind is +.

Labels are essentially the same as folders, except better.

Imagine you have 2 folders:
Pictures
Videos

You could only put an email in one of them.

But multiple labels can be applied to any one email, so if you click on *either* of the labels, the email will show up.

After you have labeled an email, archive it to remove it from your inbox.

No gmail here. Thing is, the google motto of "do no evil" is ironic, not a true corporate philosophy.

Do you really want to trust a company whose core business plan involves indexing all your personal information to never abuse that information?

Gotta go, 3 black suburbans with tinted windows just pulled up . . .

Nope, I'm last; and have no intention of signing up anytime soon. Putting all your email eggs in one basket is a bad idea.

I've owned my own domain and had hosting for 6+ years now. I have 10+ email accounts that I use for everything; personal, bill paying, forums, message boards, you name it. I check them all with Outlook (started with Office 97 :))

My host doesn't even offer Exchange services; only webmail-based retrieval clients. Nice and semi-safe, IMO.

Gmail, Yahoo and the like are great for "social" emails. But anything having to do with your business or finances should be kept to a far more secure host/medium.

If you log into the main Google account/checkout, then go to gmail, why do you then have to log into gmail? In otherwords, why aren't they the same account/password?
