This is a joke right? Quality of the food that you eat is very important for an athlete/weight lifter. High amounts of sodium and fat with low quality of ingredients is not good for anyone.

Yeah. Sounds like Mr. Bodybuilder has been reading the wrong internet forum for his weightlifting advice. Apparently he's not aware that he's skidding down a wet road towards insane health degredation and obesity if he's not careful.

I assume his point is fast food is not necessarily worse, and often times IS better than sit down restaurant nutritionally speaking.

I gave up on fast food about 1.5 years ago because its expensive and not healthy. I'll eat some from time to time, but not the daily lunch routine that I was doing.

Hmmm...

I poked my head in this thread because I gave up fast food, years ago...not because some dumb bitch messed up my order!

I do hope that you manage to give it up, for whatever reason I guess

I can't believe people actually buy that to begin with. Stopping by at night and picking up a bucket of seasoned grease that in one meal contains probably close to 2000 calories! WTF! Then going to bed later without having burned it off. That's a recipe for being a lard ass. If you're going to eat that shit do it maybe 12 times a year at the most. Definitely make that yourself. You can use lean beef with fresh veggies. Whole wheat buns. It would blow that nasty shit out of the water.Did I mention how f'ing nasty fast food is?
Except that it's a myth that fast food is especially bad for you.

It's no myth. The story in the link is absurd.

For example they point out eating three double quarter pounders with cheese a day would be a good, healthy, slim 2,200 calorie diet for an adult. However, they don't mention that would be 126 grams of fat! Not to mention it would be severly deficient in vitamins and other nutrients. And would contain enough salt seriously put you at risk of hypertension, for many people, if they ate them every day.

The article basically uses the "cigarette" defense. Since you can't prove that eating a high fat, high sodium, low roughage diet is the direct cause of a health problem, then its not.

Basically fast food is high in calories, fat and salt. Not to mention full of artificial flavorings and preservatives, which MAY cause health problems. Especially if eaten in excess.

All of which would be fine if it were an occasional meal.

Eating fast food regulary would make it very difficult if no impossible to eat anything like a recommended healthy diet.

I still eat fast food often but only because I really hate going to the grocery

Well I used to pretty much avoid fast food because I too thought it was expensive until I saw these joints selling sandwiches for a dollar. I simply cannot resist a $1 spicy chicken sandwich or double cheese burger...

Our wendy's consistently serves pink burgers(not cooked enough), so I haven't had one for a couple of years now(I order one every couple of months to check if they've improved they're burger cooking skills, but so far they have not).

You'll live longer, too. And you'll actually be eating food.

Is there any truth to this? Does fast food cause cancer or just high cholesterol which is manageable? I mean if you eat it like two or three times a week exactly how bad is it for you anyway?
