I *LOVE* brussel sprouts.

Steamed with a little butter and salt... so good.

They're just miniature cabbages, and taste about the same.

edit: just saw that one cooking link. Like most veggies, brussel sprouts can be pretty horrid if overcooked. They gotta be just right. Better to err on the side of undercooked.

That was, until tonight. My wife made brussels sprouts. I almost vomited. WTF - They were HORRIBLE.

Am I alone here? I guess it had to happen some day, something I truly HATE, but wow, that was bad.

Steamed or boiled I agree they are pretty nasty ... thats why the way I normally prepare them is roasting them in a mixture of extra-virgin olive oil & basalmic vinager along with a bunch of fresh garlic chopped in big chunks & a little sea-salt. *(can also be pan-fried but its not quite as good)

Cooked this way they taste completely different & even my 10y/o daughter likes them!

they are pretty nasty, but still pale in comparison to the bitter melon. yuck. I still don't understand why people eat that.

I've had them twice before and haven't like them both times. I do eat my veggies though.

Brussels done by a good cook are delicious! They are however all too easy to make taste awful.

Yes. I remember the first time I tried them, I absolutely did not want to like them on looks alone. They also have a bit of a smell that other veggies don't have. Surprisingly, I loved them. If someone wants to try them and is not lucky enough to be or have a good cook, there are packages in the frozen section of the grocery store that has them lathered in butter sauce. Not the most healthy but damn good.

I still don't like green peppers. Don't know why. Not very excited about okra or turnip greens either. I do like yellow, red, ... peppers though - and definitely jalapenos.

Hell yes. Just the consistency of cooked squash is enough to make me gag. But brussel sprouts are a darn close second. There is just something about the aftertaste that- ehhhhhhhhh :(

Got to have plenty of butter with brussel sprouts, or else they are quite bitter. Not any of those spreads which are mostly water. With butter, they can be very tasty.
