I've been doing customer service for six months.
Someone just told me to get fvcked because they can't read.
I came off with this...

Thanks Selena!!!
The registration process is a very simple test of sixth grade ability. You've failed.
We don't need any idiots at <insert website here>.
It's tough enough weeding out the rude, stupid, moronic, illiterate asswipes we already have.
Have a nice day!!!

Customer Service at <insert website here>

I am heretofore firing myself. I can't take one more aol'er. I can't take one more 71 year old man who can't type his phone number. I can't take one more backwater dumbfvck who can't read a simple email and click a fvckin link. Fortunately there is nothing close that I can kill.
I'm going to go beat my head on something until I feel better.

Easier to fix those problems and go home at the end of the day than to stay hours overtime trying to diagnose server issues...in Japan (or insert far away place that have business hours other than your own)

I work from home. These idiots wander in by the droves. My business partner is supposed to take care of this end, but his wife recently had a baby and he's strapped for time.
He's going to be strapped for time plus doing customer service come tomorrow.
By the time I'm done banning people and telling people to go fvck themselves, there's going to be nothing left but a fvckin echo at that website.

you need to set up a bot. That will distract you, keep you focused while you answer the inane requests.

"ah yes, gotta deal with THIS type of idiot"!

get it done and turn it loose!

Setup a really complicated menu for when the people call. It should be so complicated that only the computer LITERATE will understand the menu, and hence will be able to actually talk to a real person.

Just do what I do. When someone says something nasty, I figure they are talking to themselves out of frustration that they can't figure out something simple.

You're absolutely right.
Thing is, the website is an auction. If a person doesn't have the patience to read an email that simply says "click this link to complete your registration", they probably don't have the wherewithal to read an auction description.
We try to keep the site cleaned up. We have good people. It's a chore to keep it that way.
