A while back I made a thread about whether or not you would participate in a PET scan for $200 given the risks involved. Anyway, most everyone said I would be an idiot not to, so I went ahead and did it and cashed my check. Well, I just received a call today asking me if I wanted to be a regular test subject. Since every experiment needs a control, I would be called up whenever they started a new experiment. Apparently I'm boring and plain enough to be the ideal negative control against psychotics. What this involves is an interview asking me questions like "Do you ever feel the compulsion to inflict bodily harm on yourself" and "What year are we in right now?" and for me to do stupid tasks like "please draw a triangle on this pad of paper". And they're gonna pay me $25-$50 for each interview. Since I'm a control patient, I would need to be interviewed every time they want to use me as a control just to make sure I haven't become completely psychotic in the 2 weeks since they last interviewed me. On top of that, I get paid $400 for any scan of my head they want to do. This is great since I can usually do most of this stuff just during my lunch break or whenever. I guess working at a medical school does have it's perks. :)

Actually I already sell off my blood/plasma for free food at the hospital cafeteria (mmmm...yummy....)...

As for my sperm? Just show me the way....;)

Most medical schools/hospitals have a psychiatry department and they're always looking for people. Because most of them are funded by the NIMH which is part of the government, they have TONS of money and are willing to give a lot of it out because they're so desperate for test subjects. If you know anyone who works at a hospital or medical school, just ask them to search the bulletin boards for all the "volunteers wanted" postings.

Where are you doing it at?

What are the negative effects of the brain scan you're getting?

Hahaha!:)
PET scan eh?
I thought you were only allowed to do one of those a year since they use radioactive dyes... I would check with that IRB.
There are much easier ways to make money(not to mention less detrimental).
I work at the NIH here in Bethesda, MD and they have a whole database dedicated to clinical studies.
Some are harmless and nice, while others can be painful yet profitable.
I specifically do neuroimaging with functional MRI and we pay about 100 bucks an hour to lie down in a scanner and discern between indoor scenes and outdoor scenes that we show to you. There are still others where you dont even do anything but lie in the scanner and sleep, but they only pay about a dollar a minute and they usually last an hour.
I would much rather be exposed to intense magnetic fields before I let them inject stuff into my bloodstream.
And yes, I am also a man whore for science.

Although if you wanna justify stuff like this, there's a study at the NIH that will pay you $500 for your stem cells. They inject you with a hormone (it affects your bone marrow) every day for a week and then they do a blood draw at the end of the week to collect the stem cells that were released from your bone marrow.
