I am finally buying my new computer. I am a college student student so I'd obviously like to save money. With the new socket coming out next year along with DDR2, I'm not going to go all out with the processor and RAM. Battlefield 2 is the most technically demanding game I play. I don't do much multitasking at all and might as well wait until next year or so to go dual core.
I have the hard drives, optical drives, peripherals, and free WinXP Pro (muwahaha).
Here is the list I have so far:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ w/ XP90 and Panaflo NMB-MAT (48CFM)
DFI NF4 Ultra-D or EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra (whichever is cheaper)
OCZ Value Series 2x512MB 2.5 (upgrade to 2GB?)
eVGA/BFG 7800GT (upgrade to GTX?)
Antec P180 /w Fortron Blue Storm 500W
How does this look? I don't really want to upgrade to 2GB because of the new socket coming soon, and it is not absolutely necessary. Should I upgrade to the GTX for about $100-150 CDN more? Is there anything new that I can replace stuff up there with that is better bang for the buck?
Thanks in advance.
