Howdy,

This is one of those moments when I wish Roger was here.

Someone stole my VISA number and put up some pornographic sites and registered a corporation...

After contacting the bank, I started a search. I have the site addresses, I have contacted the company who registers domain names, and I have the IP numbers for the servers hosting them.

What can be done? I'd like to fry that bastard! Any ideas!

contact your credit card co and tell them what's happening. then call the pron sites that you were charged for and they should be able to confirm that it wasn't your ip address that registered. i had the same type of thing happen to me once and the bank was cool about it, said its not an unusual occurence, so hopefully you should be all good, the sites should refund your money since your ip never logged into the sites...hopefully for you....

good luck man!

Farbio,
he said "started a corporation".

God that is something I havent seen.. start a site with a fradulant credit card. The guy's an Idiot, he has to have an email contact (he registered teh domain) and he has a web site.

First thing go down to your local police station and file a formal complaint.
Then call your credit card company and ask them to go the formal police complaint (fax em a copy of your complaint).

Next send a complaint to internic/domain registar against fraud and if they say no, show them your police complaint.

Next - wait until you hear from your credit card company. By then the idiot will be in jail. By any chance do you have the domain.. or PM me.

Yeh, don't worry about it, the bank will cancel the purchases & refund your account, though sometimes they don't refund the 1st $50 or whatever that's charged

Also, you may want to contact the Fraud Defense Network and place a report there with the person's name (once known) and the entity name. My wife works for the parent company of FDN, and it's rather interesting.

Go nail 'em. :)

Thanks...

BUT:

The person is probably in Russia. He has left an e-mail address with a Russian domain, and there's also a charge on the card from a Moscow night club.

I'm now in Canada, and the whole crap was done in the U.S. cyberspace, with American companies.

So things are goddamned complicated.

To make things worse, it's not a credit card. It's my DEBIT card - MY money, not the bank's!
