Strangely, I really like some of it. Some songs he sounds like an overworked lounge singer.

Any thoughts?

I love Neil Diamond, But I also love Easy-E.

My mother had every album of Neil Diamond's. I was a "metal head" growing up, and always laughed at that "stupid gay old people's music".

15 years later I found myself buying his "Greatest Hits" cassette :p

I find that having some easy-listening music in the background is the only way I can stay sane in my present environment.

Forever in Blue Jeans is prolly my favorite... but some of his stuff just sucks (like "He A'int Heavy... He's My Brother")

Don't listen to any of those haters. He's put out some really good music. Sure you might hate Heartlight and You Don't Bring Me Flowers, but what about classics like Sweet Caroline, I Am I Said, and Shilo, and Solitary Man? Not to mention he wrote I'm A Believer for The Monkees.

Neil Diamond is pure Americana. If you can, listen to Dry Your Eyes of The Band's The Last Waltz live album.

Nothing to be ashamed of, in his prime he was far more talented than most current pop and rap stars today. I don't listen to him often, but a lot of his songs have aged pretty well.

His "Red Red Wine" is superior to the remake in the 80's or 90's (whenever it was... was it UB40 who did the remake?)

I have quite a few favorites from Neil Diamond...

I grew up listening to him when my mom would plop in one of her Neil Diamond 8-tracks. I've seen him in concert twice, too.

I used to have to suffer through a 3 hour drive on the way to my Grandma's listening to nothing but Neil Diamond because of my mom.

Today I own the Essential Collection on CD.

But then there was the Barry Manilow days......

I wonder if my kid will be complaining about our trips listening to Tool/Pearl Jam/APC/Faith No More/Pink Floyd/etc
