My cablemodem is a little screwy, and to get the full 10mbit connection I need to have a router with a 100mbit port. I have a Linksys BEFSX41 so I checked out what they have in terms of wireless, and the Linksys WRT54G seems to be what I need.

I'm also gonna need a repeater I think. My house is 3/4 century old and it eats up wireless signals from 802.11B and celluar phones. The AP/Router will be in the basement, and I'm gonna need a connection one level up all the way across the house. What kind of repeater should I get?

And a PCMCIA/Cardbus adapter with an external antenna for wardriving?

The WRT54G is one of the most popular routers there days so that's definiteily a good choice.

I don't hae any firsthand experience with repeaters but Linksys also makes this one:

which should work fine since it'd be working with their oen product.

As for the PCMCIA card, I've never had trouble using any old PCMCIA card with my wireless connection. They don't have to be the same brand normally but again, I'm sure Linksys makes those as well if you want to keep everything the same. And if you do, you could even go up to the SpeedBooster systems they offer as well.
