Do you wake up coughing up green/yellow stuff? If so, you've still got something. If not, could be the dry winter air.

I do have allergies, and I have an air filter in my room as well as a humidifier :(

i do cough significantly less when it gets extremely steamy in the bathroom/shower...perhaps it is the dry air

EDIT: I guess I'm going to see some doc on saturday...supposedly he works wonders with natural herbs and stuff. My grandpa and dad both went to him, and I guess he poked them in a few places, looked at them for a bit, and told them their medical history...which was completely true. No medical documents are sent over to this guy...it's his own private little firm

told my dad that the medicine he was taking from diabetes, in his case, was making it worse...so he gave him some natural stuff which seems to be helping

You could have whooping cough. Seriously, I know a guy who had it recently and he coughed for like 4 months.

Pffft, I coughed for well over a year. Actually, it was about 9 months before I went to the wondrous doctors. Then, I coughed another 9 months under their care. First the GP gives you the standard allergy meds and X-ray. After he's billed you for a few follow up visits, he sends you to a pulmonary specialist. He gives you more meds, breathing tests, and cat scan. After he's billed you for a few visits, he sends you to an ear, nose & throat guy. He shoves a scope up your nose, gives you meds, and maybe an X-ray and/or cat scan. After he's billed you for a few visits, he lets things alone for a while to see if the meds (which you've taken since day one with no improvement) do any good.

After a while, you go to your new GP, because the old one wouldn't OK a visit to a specialist, and complain that you're still coughing. He notes in your records that you've been to the best specialists in the area, so he doesn't know what to suggest... oh, and he gives you more of the same allergy meds you've been taking.

After a couple years go by, the cough will be replaced by a nearly constant runny nose, but you'll sleep well knowing how you've added to the income of your neighborhood doctors, specialists, medical centers, and all the people who work under them!

I would cough for months after getting a cold in the winter, in chicago where the air is very dry in the winter.

I got a good humidifier for about $100 and I haven't had a problem since.

Looks like you have a bad case of neffing. Unplug two cords from your computer. Keep doing that every morning until symptoms clear.

If you had whooping cough you would know. It is very distinctive. Buy a humidifier and use it throughout the winter months.
