I've been getting headaches from coughing too.. used up like 5 bags of cough drops in a month. Went to the doctor and was prescribed some cough suppressants but that just puts me to sleep and i can't use it during the day time.. must be swine flu or something :frown:

This spring I inhaled some sawdust and crap while doing some work on my house. A few days later I started having trouble breathing, and I had a really bad cough. After a few days I called my doctor's office, and they gave me an appointment right away with a doctor I hadn't seen before because I was having trouble breathing. I told him I inhaled some crap while working on my house, but he didn't seem too interested in that. He asked me a bunch of questions, listened to me breathe, and concluded that I had seasonal allergies. Put me on drugs and gave me an inhaler. Didn't help. I gave it a chance for a couple of weeks before I made another appointment and saw my regular doctor. She prescribed antibiotics and within 5 days the cough was gone and I had no trouble breathing.

The wife has been coughing pretty hard and crazy for a couple of weeks. I've been giving her shit that she has the swine flu - which she may actually had.

Influenza has more than just coughing as a symptom. She'd have a fever, muscle aches, etc...

Did the doctor suggest what it could be? Maybe see someone else?

checked my nose, throat, eyes, breathing and said everything seems fine except my throat seems to be still a little irritated. he prescribed some cough suppressants and said it'll just take time for it to go away... if it doesn't call him back and he'll do some more tests....

Probably allergies. Go back to the doctor and tell them to get you flonase or whatever it's called. I would cough really bad for months then finally went to the doctor and told me I had allergies and I take the Flonase nasal spray every day and no more coughs.

My dad had a cough last spring for like three weeks and the doctor said "sounds like pneumonia, lets take a chest x-ray" and sure enough, it was walking pneumonia. With antibiotics, he was better in like a week. Does your chest rattle when you cough?

I find that coffee helps with that sort of thing. Try it, but also increase the amount of Water you drink. Brush teeth and gargle with mouthwash(preferably saltwater) 2 or 3 times a day. Gets some exercise that causes your heart/lungs to be worked out(jog/run/bike).

Continue to use cough droops/suppressant as needed, but the above should decrease the need.

Hmm, I should try that. I have a really bad allergy cough. I cough all day, every day.

oh yah, he said he'll take chest x-rays for me if the meds don't help within a week.. but no chest rattle when I cough.. only rattling is in the brain which is causing major headaches!
