I've been catapulted back to the stone age!

So the gas company comes to replace my gas meter today and when they come back to re-light my pilot light the guy says there is black soot on the outside of the furnace like the burner is clogged and the flame has been coming out the side. I didn't know this since the furnace is in the attic. So now I have no heat! Luckily it's not too cold tonight. My landlord has a guy coming tomorrow night to look at it.

On top of this my wireless access point crapped out today, so I'm stuck on a desktop, oh the horror!!

that is all

If it was really the stone age, the open flame spewing out into your attic would have burned your house down and you'd be sleeping outside tonight.

Not really, because he would be living in a house made of stone.

can you undercut mine?

HP
789MHz celeron with integrated everything. With a hp pavilion mx50<--look it up, it sucks

Well, he would, but the garbage disposal would be a boar underneath the sink, and his shower would be the trunk of a wolly mamoth, and his lawn mower would be a snapping turtle on wheels.

buy four homes, a plane to fly between them, and four sets of the same clothes so you never have to pack

Pentium 200MHZ 64MB ram! 😛 But that is assuming you have power which the flinstones didn't have so you should be using a laptop. Therefore I would undercut you with a 600MHZ PIII laptop, 256MB ram.. And last I checked, they didn't have 789MHZ celerons...

You mentioned a landlord, do you live in an apartment? There should be plenty of unsecured wireless for the ... borrowing.

The heat in our building was out on Xmas Day of '04. That sucked.

I just found out today from the super that our landlady (don't get me started on her) finally ponied-up to install a timer on the boiler so the temperature will be somewhat constant here. For the last 3+ years the super has had to get up at odd hours to turn the boiler on and off.

It's a townhouse, but yes there are 3 or 4 open networks I can see around the complex.
I'll have mine replaced by tomorrow though.

P3 500MHz with a GeForce 2MX, 256MB of PC133, and a 15gig hard drive.

<update> Still have no heat, the guy came today and said the furnace it pretty much shot. Landlord agreed to to install a new one, they are coming tomorrow to start installing. Hoping to have heat again by friday afternoon.

this sucks, but at least I have plenty of  ! It is still 64 degrees in the house so I should be good until they get it working again.

that is all
