The lasting effects of them, my genuinely adored American neighbours, is that the rest of the world (including my country) is learning that the age that you could be relied on - not just to be there as an ally, but simply to be rational - is likely over. Maybe the entire American age of dominance is over, too, or near thereabouts. Who knew it would end this way...

Don't count us out yet. The more Trump rattles the cage, the more likely we are to get rid of him in less than 4 years (sad positive, I know, but at this rate even Paul Ryan will capitulate at some point).
