ITX gaming rig or Steam Stream?

I don't know if it's the right section or not, but lately I've been toying with the replacement of my (free) xbox 360.

I don't really want to buy another console, so I want to stick with PC gaming.

Initially I started looking for a good ITX build for 1080p gaming on TV screen, coming up with a pricey Skylake Box.

I do have an (old) x6 1055t rig and I'm wondering if I could simply slap a GTX 960 there, add a Steam Link and two powerlines adapters and stream from it for half the cost.
What do you think?

How well does Steam stream works?

Were you planning on overclocking the SKL i3 to 4.2-4.4Ghz? It seems that way from your choice of components, that would allow OC.

I would guess that your gaming experience with the SKL i3 (OCed or not) would be quite a bit better than with the X6. The X6 suffers from slower single-threaded performance, and lower minimum framerates, from what I've read thus far. It would be doable, though.

Why not get a GTX960 for the ITX rig? Over budget?

No overclocking, as I want to reduce footprint further and go with a Sugo SG13.
Temperatures may become harder to manage.

The main reason to go with the streaming version is budget (I'd like to fit within €300, basically console spending) and the fact that I don't game that much anymore, save for occasional gaming with a couple titles (Tomb Raider, a few FPS, some racing games), making me thinking of the skylake box as a waste and leaving me with a desktop to sell on ebay (the x6 rig).

I could also try to search ebay for used parts and come up with a itx build around 400 perhaps with older i5 (2xxx or 3xxx)
