ITX Case Build With Corsair H60 Possible?

I'm ready to start my next build (S1155 i5-2500k based). It will be ITX based and due to my overclocking habit and just plain "tech-Giddyness" I'm aiming to use the Corsair H60 self contained watercooling unit to keep my cpu frosty.

Being ITX based and wanting to use this cooler I know that my options are limited so after much reading I've come up with the Lian-Li PC-Q11 & PC-Q08 mItx cases as potential candidates.

I would like to know if anyone can confirm that the Corsair H60 can be fitted in either case and if so.....How?

Don't remember with the Q11, but the Q08 has a 120mm blowhole fan at the top. Just remove that fan and mount the H60 in its place. The H60 has a slim radiator so it should fit without pressing against the PSU.

I have some pics of a Q08 server build in my sig. Might give you an idea of how to put in a watercooling setup. Don't see why the 120mm blowhole wouldn't be perfect to mount a radiator to. But, might have some issues with PSU clearance. A micro-ATX PSU might help that.

There are two real choices I've seen with respect to a shorter quality power supply both made by Silverstone and each in the $75 range.

Silverstone ST50F-P

Both of these would probably fit the bill for a Q11 build. Another choice of case would be the Silverstone SG05 450w version which includes the ST45SF. The issue with that case is the mounted radiator leaving room for the slim DVDR to fit. I tink the solution maybe to mount the radiator, depends on which model you get, with the in/out tubing sideways. I'm not sure about this though.

You should snag up MaximumPC from last month. They did a multi-itx face-off, and some vendors did use water cooling. Some good info either way.

for my q11 i used a sfx silverstone 450 watt as it allowed more room .

Just checked out your link and it is very impressive...............

I am leaning twords the Silverstone Sugo SG05B-450 but really wish it was about 1-2cm bigger in each dimension but it seems to be the "best choice" for what I want to do. I will post pics of the build.

Be sure to use a slot-load DVD-rw. I found the tray models don't eject right and get hung up.

The Cosair H60 does NOT work in the Antec Solo Cases.

Q08 u need to mount the rad up front where the 120mm fan would normally go.

Infact any spot which has a 120mm fan and some room at the end is golden with a H#O

The build has been completed..............for the most part. Here are the list of components and picture links.

2x Arctic Cooling F12 120mm Fans

The system has become my main daily pc running Arch Linux with the Gnome 3 (3.2.1) Desktop. It is very stable and fairly quiet. I absolutely love this build.

It is a little messy cable wise but I have tried to make sure that the airflow behind the rad is as clear as possible. It, the cpu, runs surprisingly cool usually at just 5-7 degrees above ambiant during regular use. The rad orientation, due to the video card, blocks the use of an internal optical drive but is of little consequence since an external is used on those occasions where one is needed.

Nice job. I found the stock fan on the H60 quite loud and I replaced it with 2 Akasa Apache Blacks. They keep the cpu pretty much the same temp as the stock fan and are extremely quiet. It was up only a degree or two with just one Akasa fan so you might consider if that Corsair fan bugs you

Why did you end up with the older socket?

At the time I purchased the components, a few months ago, I wasn't satisfied with the available S1155 based boards (H67 or H61) that were available. As well given that I would be running Linux exclusively, I opted for the previous generation for possible compatibility reasons. I should also mention that I got a great deal on the MB & Cpu!

The performance is very good for what I need it for but I may soon enough go S1155 (Z68 ITX) with a 2500K instead. There are a few more & interesting S1155 Itx boards available now.

I found the stock Corsair fan too noisy as well and replace it with 2x Arctic Cooling F12's. You can see the white fan blades in the front photo of my build.
