I try to launch iTunes but it tells me I need to update to the 7.0.3 version of Quicktime. I try to reinstall QT but it hangs right before the end and gives me a -3 error.

No matter what I do, I can't get it to install. I've uninstalled it and everything QT related but I get the same error.

Any idea why its doing this? I haven't touched iTunes and it was working fine until today. I also have not installed anything new on my PC.

Thanks.

Re-uninstall QT and everything related to it, then download winamp or foobar. Problems solved.

I've tried that. It doesn't work. It gives me a -3 error.

What is this Foobar program? I've never had an iPod before and found I hate iTunes.

I do it using a separate program, Ephpod. There is a plugin for foobar (and one for winamp as well) that allows you to do it via those programs, though beyond knowing of their existence I don't know anything about them.

A plugin is required, as RBachman has stated.

Info regarding the plugin can be found here. It also contains an installation guide as well as a how to guide. A direct download link for foo_pod is here.

Here's Ephpod if you are interested in trying it out.

Another alternative to the foobar/ephpod combo is Media Monkey. I use it for ripping via LAME, tagging, and transferring to my iPod. Works great.
