Speculatiosn abounds, but no one seems to know what the hell this option does. Some say that it allows volume control from the HiFi but that doesn't ahve a network connetion....
The thing is, you can already play music from a remote computer that has itunes over any airport express in the house, remotely, so this might be something altogether.

Hopefully the touchscreen itunes "Sonos" -type dealy I had in mind might come to fruition:evil:

Sorry, it says speakers.

Your computer's built-in speakers
Speakers connected to your computer and a power outlet
Remote speakers connected to an AirPort Express network

Here are ways to choose which speakers to use:
If you connect external speakers, iTunes plays through them and mutes the computer's built-in speakers.
If you connect speakers to an AirPort Express network, a speakers pop-up menu (shown below) appears at the bottom of the iTunes window. To listen through your remote speakers, choose them from the pop-up menu. If you don't see the menu, iTunes uses your computer's speakers (and external speakers, if any are connected). To use only the volume controls on your remote speakers, see "Adjusting the volume" (click the link below).
To prevent your computer from looking for remote speakers (and displaying the speakers pop-up menu), choose iTunes > Preferences, click Advanced, click General, and then deselect "Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes."

Basically it is an infrared (yuck!) remote that you plug into the airport express' usb prot...but that has worked ince ituens 4.7:confused:

The Lowdown

As a remote control for your computer, I have no complaints about the Express Remote. It works as advertised at a very reasonable price. As a first-of-its-kind remote for the AirPort Express, I?m thrilled that Keyspan?s engineers were able to find a way to control iTunes through Apple?s diminutive wireless base station. But I?d like more from the Express Remote than what it delivers. My greatest desire is that Keyspan will find a way to access iTunes? library information and make it available and navigable from a more advanced remote that features a display. In the meantime I?ll continue to use the Express Remote?s limited controls and work on those navigate-by-Braille playlists.

I still don't know what this option might be for.
