I noticed today that iTunes no longer can convert my CD tracks to MP3s, instead they use the AAC format. YUCK!!! This is weird, cause I didn't install any patch or upgrade or anything. It seemed like iTunes connected itself to the internet and changed this??

I don't follow digital music technology so much, but AAC sounds like that propriatery iPod-only format??

no, its mp4 or something. its the next one, like how there was mp2, then mp3...

if u want to use mp3, use eac to rip, and use the lame codec to encode, its the best!:)

mp4 == aac for iTunes, the files are .m4a and .m4p depending on drm or not

and aac is not proprietary. it's just another format.
