itunes songs bit rate

Im not sure if this should be in software or the off topic section. But anyways

When you buy and download a song from itunes, what bit rate are they? I know the songs come in that mp4 format I believe.

I believe it's 128, which they claim should be the equivalent of an mp3 @ 192, but with a smaller file size.
