is there any other programs that can be used to transfer songs to an ipod?
or, is there a way with itunes to label a song with multiple artists but have it show up under each individual artist and not has artist1/artist2/... ?

1) To put music on an ipod, winamp & foobar have plugins, also there are third party programs such as ephpod and anapod. Players made by, among other manufacturers, iaudio and iriver allow you to load music with a file manager, it doesn't get any simpler than that.
2) You mean a full album rip into a single mp3? There's no way to have it display a particular id3 tag for a given portion, but you can split it up using an audio editor (such as Audacity) and then tag each part.

Ok, if you have ENTIRE ALBUMS *cough*DC++*cough*i2hub*cough*irc*cough, then here's what I use:

Tag&Rename

Select the album, and it searches on freedb or Amazon (your choice). It grabs not only artists and tracks but also album, genre, comments, year, company, etc. This is your best bet. I too had an iPod and before I had just singles that were half unlabeled. I used Winamp and labeled them manually, but to keep consistency with the artist's name, and to add album was just too much. Thus I converted to an Album-only MP3 collection which looks so sexy on my iPod. Oh with Tag&Rename, you can manually tag too 1 by 1 or select a group and tag on the Artist's name if you only have singles and not albums.

sorry i guess i was not clear. the song is labeled, using wmp with all album info and everything. some songs are not just one artist, like if there was a guest artist on a dr. dre cd for example, "forgot about dre" has both dre and eminem as the artists. in wmp, the song artist is listed as "dr.dre; eminem" and the song can be accessed by going either to dr.dre's songs or to eminem's songs. in itunes, it will take that song and make the artist dr.dre/eminem and to get to the song you cant go to dr.dre or eminem, you have to go to dr.dre/eminem. i dont want that, it is retaded.

What exactly do you want? I don't quite understand. For songs I have featuring other artists the title will read something like "Song Name (Feat. Other Artist).mp3", ie. "Stan (Feat. Dido).mp3" for the song Stan on Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP. Same thing in the id3 tag.

Most rippers use CDDB or a simular internet DB so whatever frontend you have its probably gonna come from the same info resource. So, no, I dont think what you are looking for is possible yet. It is annoying to get Various Artists cds ripped cuz I have to edit each song sometimes. No biggie tho. I personally use AudioGrabber and a stable version of LAME codec.

yes but in my ipod and using itunes, say i want to listen to all songs that are by eminem or have eminem in them, only the ones that only feature eminem will be in the eminem folder while the ones featuring dido or dr.dre will not be in there. the way windows media player labels them is not in the song title but in the artist. (so stan will be "Stan" and the artis will be "eminem; dido" and i can go to either dido or eminem to pick that song) just an annoyance IMO.

They just found some security flaws with Itunes now.

Well I can't speak for ipods or itunes, as I use neither, but in foobar hitting F3 and typing "eminem" would show all songs which have "eminem" in the file name or any id3 tag field; thus I'd get songs by him and songs by other artists featuring him. If you're saying you want to change the id3 tags and/or file names, there are a number of batch tag editors out there; I use K-mp3 and Tagscanner. Foobar can also mass tag.

Like I said, use an album labeler. If you don't like how they label, you can customize what you REALLY want. Like when it comes to soundtrack, I don't like artist being Various Artists..
