iTunes Question - Adding Network Directory to my Library

Is it possible to add network files to my library without pulling all of the files onto my laptop? I just want the songs in the library to point to my file server. Is that possible?

yes, in preferences, advanced tab, general sub-tab, uncheck copy music to itunes folder

Then later if you ever do want to put them on your machine, or wherever you keep your library, you do 'Advanced' -> 'Consolidate Library'

Excellent. That explains why my HD was so full. I had tried doing this before, but only added part of my library. Now I have all my mp3s and plenty of disc space.
