I have all my albums in my itunes library, but sometimes i wanna listen to some other music thats not tagged, and not part of a complete album... so i make a playlist and drag those songs onto the playlist. i dont want them in my library. but itunes autmatically puts those songs in my library. winamp wouldnt do this, is there a way to make itunes stop doing this?

preferences > advanced > uncheck "copy files to Itunes music folder when adding to"

no, that is unchecked. my problem is not that they are being copied to my itunes music folder. its that they are being copied to my itunes music library whenever i add them a playlist. i am just adding the songs to the playlist to listen to them for a second, and i dont want them in also appear in my library.

Hmm, I dunno then. I don't have that problem. I just drag a song in, if I don't want it there. I just clear it, it never gets copied into the music folder.

Itunes really isn't made to just play one song... if you play it, Itunes figures you'll want to play it again and so it just leaves it in your library.

A lot of time i download music, and want to listen to it to see if its worth keeping. And if it is good then i id3 tag it. And it goes into my itunes music library. But i dont want it to go into my library before i tag it. Cause then when i do tag it, it has a different file name, and my library has a bunch of missing files.. etc.. Its annoying. No otehr music prog ive used does this.
