iTunes, MP4 audio, Windows Media, and Nero... need HELP please!

A PC customer of mine got iTunes and downloaded a few songs (he couldn't get Kazaa lite working)... and ended up with MP4 files.

So first problem is that WMP won't play MP4. I tried giving him the installs for DivX and 3viX, neither of which seemed to do the trick. Although after he installed the 3viX file, the song would play but sounded like snow...

Next problem is that his version of Nero Express (came with the Lite-On 52x burner from Newegg) isn't supporting the MP4 files to burn as an audio CD...

Does anyone have any help to offer me, I can't figure ANYTHING out!

Even a simple MP4 to wav or MP3 converter might work alright for when he wants to burn an audio CD, although thats a big PITA...

He downloaded QT to play the MP4s, but he would like to keep everything within Windows Media.

any help? thanks so much guys!

itunes is the only program that can play the music purchased through itunes. Why not just use itunes and scrap WMP alltogether? But anyway, to get them to mp3's, just use itunes to burn the AAC files to a music CD. Then rip the CD to mp3's. Its a bit of a hassle, but it works.

I wanted to sign up for a music service, and that seemed to be the only approach for me to get the music into MP3 format (besides using quazi-legal converters). But I was under the impression you'd take a sound quality hit?

Yep, there is a decrease in sound quality, since you're just compressing the compressed. But even a converter would be doing the same thing, since there is no way to get back the data thrown away by compression.
