itunes made cdrw disappear

Is there some setting in windows XP pro that was turned off by itunes?

Since I have installed iTunes 4.1.1 my cdrw has disappeared from my computer. I get the yellow ! that the drivers are installed but the hard ware is not found. This continues even if I change drive to my old 40x cdrw, change ribbon cable, check all conections. The cd shows up a boot time, has power, but not found by Win XP Pro.

It worked fine than the next day it was not there. the only change has been updating iTunes.

Anybody with similar experience or solutions.

I like itunes works great with my ipod, so I am happy with it. I would like to keep it.

The problem exists with itunes and other cdrw burning software. I did this fix, unistalled Roxio EZ CD and then reinstalled EZ CD and every thing was great.

I was able to fix the problem with the Microsoft solution

RESOLUTION
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.

Restart your computer.
