iTunes/iCloud Backups

If I am playing a game on my iPad (it can be anything...Final Fantasies, Terraria, Minecraft, Angry Birds, etc) and have it selected in my iCloud backup or manual iTunes backup...if my device dies and I restore that backup to a new device, will all of my save data be available and can basically pick up where I left off as if it is the same device I was using?

iTunes will save all app data. iCloud, you can selectively choose with app data it will save.

I've had issues with both...all the times I've done it (both iCloud & iTunes restore, across multiple iPhone models & iOS versions), it's lost the progress. Only thing I've had success with is iMazing ($30), which backs up the full program (.ipa) with all the data intact. I'm 110% done with iTunes...iMazing & Spotify are what I use now, plus Amazon Prime's unlimited mobile photo backup service for my pics.
