The hard drive in my laptop was dying (bad sectors)... so I got a replacement drive and transferred all of my files to the new drive, including my purchased iTunes music. However, I did not deauthorize the computer/files before transferring them. When I tried playing them from the new hard drive it told me that I had used one of my authorizations.
I'd like to get one of my authorization counts back. If I reinsert my old drive (it still boots) and deauthorize the comptuer while using that drive will it remove that computer account from my authorization list of 5 computers? Do the music files themselves track which computers are authorized, or is the list of authorized computers stored on Apple's servers?
Is there any way to view how many authorizations I currently have in use?
Let me know what you think...
Thanks!
