ITT Tech - Is it credible?

Here's my situation. I'm stuck in Knoxville, TN. The only other college here is UT, but their CS program is still stuck back in the stone age. We have ITT Tech here, whom I believe offers Bachelor's degrees now, some in IT related fields. I would like to enjoy a long and prosperous career as a network engineer/admin, and want to know if employers scoff at ITT Tech when it's on a resume. I don't want to get certs alone because 20 years from now, they may mean jack squat, but a Bachelor's is forever. Your thoughts?

I considered going to a tech school for a long time, in order to get a degree. My father highly encouraged it because one of my cousins went (Georgia Tech I think) and he got a nice job with the degree. But I finally decided that I don't consider their degrees worth having, even if it would look good to an employer. I don't like that people with absolutely no knowledge of computers could go in and get a degree in less than 2 years saying they're an expert, so I consider that kind of degree somewhat unimportant. Unfortunately employers probably would like to see it regardless, and wouldn't consider the fact that I've taught myself all the same stuff without any formal training. So instead of a degree I'm going to go for certifications, which will be cheaper AND in my opinion mean slightly more (though not a WHOLE lot more, since certs can be gotten by anybody willing to read a few books and cram the night before the exam).

How can you pass up going to UT. I live in Memphis and ended up going to University of Memphis. If I had it to do over again, i would have went to UT. The degree really isn't going to matter anyway. It only proves that you are willing to better yourself. You will still need lots of experience. By the way, the football team didn't fair all that well, but the men's and women's b-ball teams are looking good.

As far as ITT Tech, I don't think I would go there. I just have bad vibes about these small tech schools that pop up in every city. I would go to New horizons or something like that first.
