It's worth double-checking privacy-related settings on your phone from time to time

I can't perfectly remember what the recent-ish occasion was about, but it was probably Google Maps wanting access to my 'precise location' through data networks which I normally don't allow (I was very likely using my phone as a satnav) but it probably insisted so I relented with the idea of going back later and revoking the permission.

That 'later' happened the other day at a quiet moment, at which point I found that all three web browsers on my phone (Firefox, Brave, Chrome) had been inexplicably allowed this permission (Chrome on my phone gets used twice a year at the very most and there's no way on the planet that I would have enabled this permission for even one browser), and wifi scanning had been switched on (so my phone was switching on wifi even when I had it switched off, which is most of the time).
