It's freaking cold and windy here. It's like 36 degrees outside and tomorrow morning it's supposed to be 21 degrees. D: it's cruel to have to smoke the turkey in that kind of freezing weather. Who else is not looking forward to cooking the turkey tomorrow?

edit: Turkey is done. 18 lb bird smoked for ~3 hours at ~340 degrees.

Men actually cook non-red meat? And outside, when it is too cold to stand around and drink beer and tell lies with the other males from the pride?

This behavior is foreign and should be studied.

Isn't thanksgiving a big deal because the pilgrims were freezing to death and starving before the indians helped them out? Seems like it should be pretty cold if you want a "traditional" thanksgiving.

Sounds like fine weather to me. If you're smoking outside. build a fire, and grab a bottle of whisky. A perfect beginning to thanksgiving.

There are "men" who think that 20 degrees is too cold to stand around outside and drink beer and tell lies? I can guarantee that if any of the hunters at my inlaw's house get a deer tomorrow morning, they'll all be doing exactly that. Come to think of it, I know a few female hunters who would also be outside around that deer. But dammit - those female hunters always seem to not only "see" the biggest deer, but they shoot them and bring them back.

Where I live, if it hits 60 outside, the winter clothes come out. :p

Yeah... this past weekend I went hunting with a "high" of 24°. It was cold when standing still but we were mostly on the move so it wasn't bad. We'll be smoking the pheasant we got on thursday. Possibly with some dove from earlier in the season.

Someone in politics also screwed up - not understanding history.
The feast was done when the crops were in; that happens in Sept/Oct; not the end of November.

In other words, the correct Canadian time. 'Merica really needs to adopt the practices of their superiors. ^_^

What kills me is the weather here has been warm until this week... Last week it was 70 and sunny. Today it was in the thirties and snowing

I still enjoy high 50s F and sunny weather, and 20-30 at night. Usually we're in the low 30s or 20s during daytime and frozen tundra after dusk.
