Well my hate for crappy HID's the aftermarket ones that are blue and never aligned properly has just grown to include factory installed ones on Lexus's Mercedes's, BMW's, etc. Not only is it a myth you see better with that bright of a lamp (look at graph of temp. of gas versus light spectrum emitted and you will see many of these lamps with huge K temps are past the ideal range), they kill night vision of other drivers. I am not here to rant about people driving with them, but ffs people YOU DO ruin night vision with them, and I am 28, imagine those over 40 or 50. And, all those auto leveling devices do not work. I drive on a lot of back roads that are bump and twisting and the leveling devices either do not just plain work, or they are not fast enough.
Why am I once again ranting about HIDs? Last night I got driven off the road by a moron in a BMW with them installed coming in the opposite direction. It was very foggy, so I was driving ten under the speed limit as it was very neccesary even though I knew the roads well, and this jackass comes along with HID fog lights, regular beams on, not high beams (and why is it that their fog lights are always on??!?!??! ffs, fog lights may look cool but they do not need to be on all the time), and I could not see a thing. They had a blusih tinge to them and as they were coming off of the crest of a hill I was suddenly blinded and could not see a thing except white fog and those blinding lights left spots in my eyes...I kept the car straight, but unlucky for me the road turned slightly and when I could see again I was inches from hitting trees on the side of the road. Luckily I slowed down a lot also.
Also this was in my Volvo. You can use those auto leveling devices as an arguement all you want, but when you are in a low riding car (I was not mind you) and they are on an SUV the lights simply shine right into your windsheild and eyes.
