The problem that has been unraveled by that study is serious. Some of the facts that have been discovered can actually be used to the benefit of Democrats in 2022 and 2024. Democrats need to come up with something that benefits female farmers. The only problem is, farmers are Democrat's major weak point, as majority of farmers are in this nation are Republican.

If female farmers were to vote for Democrats in 2022 and 2024, mains house seats and counties would either flip blue or have the Republican margin of victory in it reduced by a lot.

Wasn't a lie. Was probably true when James Carville said it back in the 90's. Isn't true anymore.
It's still true today in a general sense. My snark is aimed squarely at people who claim Trumpism isn't about deplorable behavior and ideology.

Didn't start that way. 'Incumbents can't get re-elected with >5% unemployment' used to be a thing too.

Thanks Obama.

I think a lot of political 'wisdom' has kind of gone out the window since the teahadi infected Washington, since treason and fascism became so fashionable for the repugs.

I think there might be a more plausible explanation and I think it correlates to Facebook’s growth.

Facebook has been knowingly been spreading hate and fear, for what I can only imagine has been decades now.

FB went online in 2004, we already had a problem with astroturfed teaparty morons by that point. I see it as more of an accelerant than ignition source, defintely a threat to the country though. Thanks for helping treason and criminals to make a buck and political headway Zuck, you fucking putz.

I don’t recall the tea party being a thing until 08-09.

The earliest “disturbance” I remember was, I think, in 2003 when people started with the, “you aren’t a patriot if you question the Iraq war”. By then rush and beck propaganda machines were in full swing.

This study has determined that was, a lie.

Would you also claim that "non-college-educated whites" lack economic / financial anxiety?

If you look for racism you will find it. Humans are tribal after all.
But did you ever bother to stop and think, why this particular division at this time in our history?

Gee, I wonder....

Pair the GAP with the rise of social media and you have a perfect storm to fan the flames. I would say you only scratch the surface and you need to look deeper than the color of one's skin.

But a major study published a year ago found that Trump's support among non-college-educated whites—arguably the key to his Electoral College success—was driven far more by sexism and racism than by economic anxiety.

Judging by the people in my area from 2008-2020.
100% accurate with the additional bonus of some in the college educated 50+ crowd.

I disagree. No doubt the Racist/Sexist element was always there with these people, but Good Economic conditions suppresses acting out on them. Bad Economic conditions causes people to embrace their darkest motivations. This is what we learned from Germany's eventual embracing of Fascism.

This question/analysis isn't really about their motivation as much as it is a way to counter act Progressive ideas of improving the Material well being of all.

Yes, and anyone that dares to try to tackle this issue is instantly branded a communist.

Its an accelerant like how napalm was used in Vietnam.
