I don't know....>Cadillac has changed it's position in the market in the last 3 years. They are now gonig after the German competition in more direct marketing endeavors.

Buick has moved to Cadillac's old position....and of course Oldsmobile has been eliminated to help funnel more market share toward the Buick line. Who knows if all that will work since the rest of the company is having trouble competing.

I was leaning more towards the older generation's tendancy to think of Cadillac as the world standard of cars, and how Gen Y thinks Lexus is tops in quality now

When I think luxury cars nowadays, I think Mercedes and Maybach. BMW is more of a performance oriented line, and Japanese cars never seem to come to mind when I think about luxury. Perhaps it's not accurate, but when I think of Japanese cars, I think of riced out Honda Civics and Toyota Corolla commuter cars.
