*confirmed*Confirmation?
There is a correction: The new SKUs will actually be of AMD Radeon HD 6950 1GB and will be available for approximately USD$269 to $279.
269.99 is about what the original 5850 was supposed to msrp for, of course for many months buyers had to pay much more. If the bios switch is still there, then at least it is basically a full die for most enthusiasts with a little flashing.
Stupid price, you can get the 6950 2 GB for 280$.
6950 1gb = no flashing .🙁

NOt if they raise em. 🙂

You can't flash a 6970 2 Gb onto a 6950 1Gb, I would assume the memorry difference would cause some conflict.
With rebates you can already get 6950 2GB for $280. Of course, with the criminal payout rate on rebates I'm not sure it's even worth mentioning.

The MSRP is $300. If you can get 2GB cards for $280 it stands to reason these 1GB cards will also end up selling under the MSRP, i.e. ~$260. If not, then I agree: pretty pointless to put these cards out in the first place.Stupid price, you can get the 6950 2 GB for 280$.
You have a point there. Won't work.
