They're clueless. They predicted sustained high winds of 60 mph one day this week with downed power lines, trees and damage to structures. From 6 AM to 10 AM and then later from 3 PM to 10 PM. When it didn't materialize in the morning they changed it to all day until 10 PM. When that didn't materialize, they got their paychecks just like they always do.

They can't predict rain, or sun or clouds or temperatures or the wind or the humidity despite having tools at their disposal that could only be dreamed about 50 years ago.

But climate change, that's one thing they're certain about.

The weather has been crazy sporadic this year, probably due to El Nino. We don't even have any snow on the ground yet, it's kinda messed. Well, as of last night we do, but it's wet snow, it's going to melt. Wet snow never really stays. it's only like -4C so barely below freezing. Suppose to go back in the positives by tomorrow afternoon.

On slightly similar note, there are only 6 weeks till Christmas. I hope we get a decent snow fall by then. :D

Supposed to be 60 tomorrow. Awesome! We really need to build more coal fired power plants.

Remember. They'll say that's weather not climate science....

Absolutely glorious day in Connecticut today, must have been near 70* when temps peaked around 1pm. Alas we return to more seasonably cooler temps for the rest of the week.

65 yesterday, 62 today. Both days bright and sunny. I did the last of the yard work in shorts and a t-shirt today. My wife saw an article yesterday that said we had snow on the ground last year at this time. I know the snow didn't last but we often don't even get any until December. Sometimes not until late in December.

Florida bound the 28th of December. I'm hoping for only light snow until then.

Our low was in the low 20's with a high of 66. We might get our first snow this weekend.

Park City had snow and many of the ski resorts are planning to open this week. More than a foot of snow in some places. We didn't get enough snow last year so lets hope this year is better.

Being a weather man isn't the easiest job in the world and they do make mistakes, but by and large I think they do a pretty good job given the variables. The European model predicted with near perfect precision the path of hurricane Sandy eight days in advance.

The models are seldom that accurate that far in advance and there are many examples of huge errors in forecasts just a day later, but much progress has been made and far fewer people die from weather even though there are far more people.

I'm perfectly fine with temps in the 60's and 50's all through Nov/Dec, that would be great.
