Looking for a used truck on Craigslist.
NOBODY, can fucking spell.

There are tons of adds (their spelling) about how great their vehicle is, how there's noting wrong with it and how it has a salvage title. :hmm:

Why yes, I am frustrated.

I hate people who post salvage titles or rebuilt titles or anything without a clean title. You're basically asking to gamble a shit ton of money.

If they notify you up front about the title; you have the option to ignore the ad or use due diligence in checking out the vehicle before you purchase it.

Crap, is that how that works?

Everywhere else except California.

Apparently in CA, if you do not like the vehicle after 6 months you can return it to the seller and get your $$ back. The seller will even give you back any money spent to upgrade the vehicle based on your word.:hmm:

Salvage title can be anything from a simple repossession to a total rebuild.
I have seen some wherein the only damage was to one door so it was totaled, new door installed & painted to match, worked perfectly.

Find out first why it has a salvage title before you skip over it.
(Some of the best vehicles I ever owned came with salvage titles)

Did the salvage title make it harder to get insurance?

No, but then it seems as though my insurance is incredibly cheap compared to what others here post.
(Driving 40 years, no at fault accidents, no tickets, same insurance company from the start.)

Edit: No "At Fault accidents)

Salvage title is fine as long as you know what the damage was and can evaluate the work done. The only difference it makes to the insurance company is when they have to pay out for damages, they're going to reduce the value of the vehicle to the tune of 25%.

I know this because the car i got my son was a salvage title (got a good deal), and after he was side swiped at an intersection the other drivers insurance paid 25% under bluebook value. I made a few bucks on the deal.

could be okay too, if the buyer's never going to sell it and just run it into the ground - gotta cheap though

edit: wait, can't a rebuilt/salvage title be clean?

i think so. but, salvage title is a whole spectrum of things. could be a dented then replaced rear frame or something, or who knows what...

Those that can tinker and know what to look for aren't really going to care if it's salvage or not, provided they can diagnose the real problems that it may have.

Out of 8 emails I sent on vehicles, I received two replies. One was from an idiot that I wouldn't do business with. (couldn't put two sentences together without sounding like a fool)

The other was from a lady that just lost her husband in Iraq. The car brings back bad memories so she wants to ship it to me via Ebay. What could possibly go wrong?
(Hypothetical question, please don't answer)

In case you were thinking it's a regional thing:
