I want the second movie to come out, cause I think Gandalf's going to be in it again, and not be dead. No, I haven't read the books, no I'm not going to read the books (at least not till after the movies are all out). And don't psot any damn spoilers in my thread.

Anyway, that part is sad.

I won't tell you what happens though (I have read the books). You'll like it :)

He is not only in the second movie he is also in the third. In case you didn't know the ring gets destroyed and Estel becomes King of Gondor.

*spoiler alert* In the fourth book, Gandalf comes back from the dead to fight Sauron in a hand-to-hand duel using big sticks for weapons. Its a hard fought battle, but in the end, I win.

My favorite part was when Gandalf falls. "Finally, some action" is what I thought while sitting through a long ass boring movie that my family really wanted me to see because they had read the books.

Screw that.. LOTR is a really really boring movie that tries to stick pretty pictures to go along with a book that could never be matched. LOTR is good if you read the book - and only because your thoughts on the movie are dependent on the book also.

And.. Hobbits are dumb and little and I could kick their asses.

And.. I'm NOT seeing LOTR 2 no matter how much my family begs me.

I have to admit while the movie was good its nothing to the emotion you get when reading the book. After reading for hours (not watching for 2 hours) gandalf.... dies.. omg first time i read it was like.. stunned and had to stop. Then i read it over again to make sure.

Gandalf plays soccer with Sauron's all-seeing eye and scores a goal for the Brazilians whilst running and shouting "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!" :D

Gandalf comes back as a cow and he beats the bad guys with his udders of doom. :p

The previous statement is based on fiction and has nothing to do with anything.

gandalf comes back and once again goes to hobbit land to recruit a hobbit to burgle a dragon's hoard, but the hobbit has wacky mis-adventures.

I finally got around to watching this last weekend. I really enjoyed it. The whole Fantasy-genre in books and movies really doesn't do it for me personally; never has. Even when it's expertly done by somebody like Tolkien. I just couldn't get into the books and ended up only reading one and a half of them. It was just TOO involving to me. I felt like I needed a crib sheet just to reference all the names, orders, etc so I could know who in the world they were talking about half the time. But I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and I'm looking forward to the next one. I'll still probably wait until it's out on DVD though before I see it.

What's sad is someone not wanting to read the books until all the _movies_ are out! How backwards is that?! Not wanting to see the movie until you've finished the book I can understand, but not the other way around...

I saw an interview with Gandalf and he pretty much looked exactly the same...it was weird because it was GANDALF but in HUMAN form! :D

I think you've got your chronology mixed up, ElFenix. (Unless that was deliberate.)

The battle of Moria, the Balrog, Gandalf's Death.... BEST SEGMENT EVER!

Yeah, weird...

Just read the fvckin' books already! What is the deal with watching the movies instead of reading? WTF?!?! When you read it's YOUR vision of how things should look, YOU see the characters in the story! It's how YOU envision it, not how Petah Jackson sees it! PJ has done a fine job but if you ever want to see how movies ruin good books, try reading "Johnny Mnemonic" by William Gibson or "The Postman" by David Brin and then watch the movies based on those same stories. I think you'll find that YOUR vision of the story is better than the directors ideas and visions put forth in those movies...

Sorry to go off on a rant but it's like the whole country would rather have images and ideas spoon fed to them in visual form rather than use the brain that was given to them. In the immortal words of SpongeBob Squarepants - "you just need 'I-mag-i-nation'"! :)

I laughed. That old guy was annoying me. I was really hoping that old hobbit would die, he was the worst!
